The deCordova Museum’s Biennial exhibition in Lincoln, Massachusetts, is one of the most prestigious group shows in New England. Curators Jennifer Gross (soon departing) and Sarah Montross made 120 studio visits throughout the region and chose artists from each of the six states—Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont. Their aim was to select accomplished artists who are making significant contributions to the contemporary dialogue and they seem to have succeeded in putting together a terrific show. All media from performance to traditional painting are represented. Artist Cary Smith, one of the painters selected, sent us the following images of the installation.
